Summary of the Position:
Sr. Commodity Buyer for Electromechanical commodity
Experience with Electromechanical commodity such as Harness, Heat Mats, ECUs, PCBAs, Switches, Sensors.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated ability to develop strategies and execute them as well as experience in a larger scale company.
Data driven for strategically manage and reshaped the supply base to strengthen competition, maximize leverage, and drive best‑value sourcing decisions. Partnered effectively with cross‑functional teams to design and execute cost‑reduction programs (CRP).
The Commodity Buyer directly reports to the America Commodity Manger and dotted line to the Global Commodity Manager.
Develop should cost analysis, create benchmarks globally, define best cost structure based on company needs or company customers requirements.
Strong negotiation skills
Determine a long-term strategy for the commodity in terms of the supply base
This role supports both regional and global team objectives.
Main Responsibilities:
• To execute annual price negotiations with all relevant suppliers in order to (over-) achieve the budget saving / PPV target
• To ensure the best price on a global supply market for all products commodity
• Develop a comprehensive Regional & Global Commodity Purchasing Strategy (3-5 years view) based on global/regional business strategy and PBU strategy
• Lead the global implementation of the commodity strategy including action plans in each region under their responsibility
• Works closely with Supplier Quality to monitor and correct all supplier PPM problems
• Initiate and/or support VAVE for cost reductions initiatives.
• Responsible for supplier management starting from new supplier introduction to supplier phase out, compiling supply market intelligence, identifying purchasing risks, opportunities and ensuring data transparency
Work Experience:
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Commodity Buyer
• 2 to 3 years of experience within a Global Commodity for the Automotive Industry .
- Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, tooling, and commercial terms.
- Proven record of annual cost savings and value creation.
- Understanding of should-cost models and cost breakdowns.
- Negotiations with supply base that are close to be considered single source
- Develop and analyze should cost for the commodity
- Index agreements
- Development and execution of commodity strategies.
- Market analysis and benchmarking.
- Supplier portfolio optimization.
Preferred Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Fluent in English language skills written and spoken
• Strong negotiating skills
• Data Analysis driven
