Job Summary

Manages new model programs to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified Joyson Safety Systems/customer objectives.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for project(s) P&L.
  • Plans and develop timing using the Joyson Gate Review process for implementing new program launch directives. Directs and coordinates program activities, and exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of program.
  • Monitors all project key deliverables dates to ensure obstacles to maintain timing are communicated and distributed within the organization so resolution is obtained.
  • Represents Joyson Safety Systems at pre-mass production meetings, build events, customer driven meetings and other means of communication.
  • Reviews reports and records activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified project objectives and modifies or changes methodology as required.
  • Interfaces with Joyson Sales/Finance groups to communicate pending financial issues that Joyson Safety Systems should pursue with the customer
  • Forecasts and monitors departmental expenses of direct reports
  • Ensure program appropriation requests are accurately completed and submitted for management approval.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Performs other assignments as required.
  • Supervisory Skills – Ability to directly supervise employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interpersonal Skills- Ability to develop good working relationships with all levels of employees (including upper level management). 
  • Communication- Must be able to facilitate meetings and set clear expectation with stakeholders.  Must be able to compose plans and reports and make clear presentations. 
  • Competency in Microsoft applications incl. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to provide graphical / visual representation of information.
  • Result-oriented and communicative person.
  • Strong customer facing position
  • Experience with creating standardized documentation and reports.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, and automotive launch/gate review processes.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget tracking, business case support, cost recovery, tooling/capital tracking, and P&L ownership.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, Finance, and Operations.
  • Strong risk management skills, including issue escalation, mitigation planning, and recovery plan execution.
  • Experience developing and managing program timing plans, open issues lists, action trackers, and executive-level status reports.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills, including experience communicating with OEM customers and supporting customer build events.
  • Ability to manage change control, engineering changes, scope changes, and related commercial impacts.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing readiness, capacity planning, supplier readiness, and launch performance metrics.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and drive accountability across global or matrixed teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using structured methods such as 5 Why, 8D, A3, or similar approaches.
  • Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and communicating program risks, financial impacts, and customer issues clearly.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management tools, ERP systems, and/or PLM systems preferred.
  • PMP certification or formal project management training preferred.
  • Experience managing automotive OEM customer programs from award through launch/SOP.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree; with over ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
